Netherlands:

In the Netherlands, the projects and research-lines in Manual Therapy, are offered by research universities (WO), universities of applied sciences (HBO) or Institutes for Master Education in Manual Therapy.

The higher education system in the Netherlands (WO and HBO) is based on a three-cycle degree system, consisting of a bachelor, master and PhD degree. The three-cycle system was officially introduced in the Netherlands at the beginning of the academic year 2002-2003. The Netherlands has a binary system of higher education, which means there are two types of programmes: researchoriented education [wetenschappelijk onderwijs, WO], traditionally offered by research universities, and applied sciences [hoger beroepsonderwijs, HBO], traditionally offered by hogescholen, or universities of applied sciences.

In the Netherlands  are three officially institutes of Master Education:

  • Institute for Master Education in Manual Therapy Amersfoort (SOMT).
  • University of professional education Utrecht (HU)
  • Institute  Master Manual Therapy Rotterdam (Transfer)
